Bison Steak with Hidden Egg

Serves 4 Main course

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground bison
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Butter or oil for frying
  • Side dishes of your choice

Method

  1. Boil the eggs for 5 minutes so the whites are set and the yolks still soft. Cool slightly and peel carefully.
  2. Mix the ground bison with onion, garlic, mustard, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper.
  3. Divide the mixture into four portions. Flatten each portion, place an egg in the center, and seal the meat completely around the egg.
  4. Heat butter or oil in a frying pan and cook the steaks over medium heat for 8–10 minutes, until browned and cooked through.
  5. Serve immediately with your chosen side dishes.
Serving tip: Make sure the meat seals tightly around the egg to prevent it from leaking during cooking.
